Forehead Slap

I was scrolling through my past blog post and realized I never posted my finished Wooly Block Adventure Block...I posted it all over social media, loaded it to the website, mail out kits and yet I did introduce it here...

Let it Snow...I worked with Debra Gable at Zebra Patterns...we chatted about what I wanted, she came up with a design, I changed the design and she rolled with it and wrote up my pattern. What started out as a snowman skating ended up with an pond frozen over with beads on the pond to make it sparkle and I also used beads in the snowflakes...btw...you'll get those beads in the kits and you too can thank my friend Debbie for that suggestion. I used an Ackfeld Hanger - Frosty Snowman - and attached my block to a flannel back and then put a wool snowflake in the corner. If you purchase the hanger you'll get a die-cut snowflake to play with. It's hard to tell but I used a whiteish wool with a sparkle thread running through it. I used Wonderfil 8wt Perle Cotton thread, Alantis (green) SnowGlobe (offwhite) Heavy Skies (blue) Newsprint (variegated black/gray)

Black and a hand-dyed blue thread from Barnegat Bay Dyeworks

I did a chain stitch for the "hills" and across the house and to make the panes. Applique stitch for the porch/stoop. Back stitch for the sled and a long feather stitch on the trees. The pond I did a longish Sashiko stitch adding the beads after the stitching was one.

The kit contains all the wool you'll need to finish the top, the silver skates and beads.

Hope you like my block...let me know if you have any questions...happy to help

Until Next Time

Be Kind
